Press Release by the President of Oil Workers Trade Union

In the shadow of current circumstances and the absence of the state, the workers need each other more than ever, need to organize themselves. At the same time they reject imposed organization by the superiors but rather one on their own choice, which represents them. Furthermore our union (FWCUI) had proven the truthful representation of the Iraqi labor hope and will.

The submission of 20 identifications made by 20 unionists from our department (oil project company) and announcing their support to our union and withdrawal from previously belonged union is a clear evidence to prove our agenda after what they underwent under the former regime (such as transforming the unions into a tool of oppression) also the attempts of Civil Provisional Authorities (CPA) to imposing unions over the workers.

In addition it has proven that the workers from that point on know who represent them and realizes the importance and necessities of the association.
